Report
Return on Investment

Support Our Science is pleased to share our findings on the societal return on investments (ROI) in the training of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Our analysis and summary lead to three main conclusions:
-
Return on investment in research, development and training of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars is very large and long-lasting.
-
Canada is no longer competitive internationally in R&D or training, which likely explains the large brain drain of talent our country is now experiencing.
-
Canada needs to immediately invest in training graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and their research to remain internationally competitive and to grow our economy.
