The funding does not cover tuition for a graduate student. Only the living stipend but now $8k has to come out of the stipend unless you're lucky enough to have a PI that covers it.
If postdoctoral funding was CAD $60,000/yr for all postdocs, how would that change your life? This would make it a lot easier to pay tuition and still have a better stipend considering living expenses and inflation.
