Juliana Marulanda

Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow that fortunately gets paid a bit more than the Tri-council award. However, I can only survive, pay for a mortgage and raise a child because of the second income of my husband. I can't afford any savings on my own, pension plan, etc. It really makes me nervous. I love academia and Canada, but how much longer can I continue with this salary.....

If postdoctoral funding was CAD $60,000/yr for all postdocs, how would that change your life? Making $60.000 a year would definitely give me the opportunity to contribute more to my family expenses and would give me some room to save and plan for retirement. It would definitely reduce my anxiety when I think about the future.
